The tamper is used specifically in Espresso making, it is an integral step for the creation of the correct pact of coffee needed for a proper espresso. The diameter of this tamper is 58mm, whilst this fits most machines double check the internal diameter of your portafilter before ordering as basket sizes range from 53mm to slightly over 58mm.
